Very good intro. I would recommend all the courses in the series presented by Dr. Colleen van Lent. The material is always presented clearly and with consideration of realistic applications. Definitely a good way to get started with JavaScript.

This course explains the basics of JavaScript in using it in collaboration with HTML and CSS for helping in designing web pages. The course starts from the very basics of the language. The homeworks were a bit challenging compared to the previous courses but they were interesting too.
