Very informative. Even without the textbook, Dr. Chuck made everything relatively simple to understand, step by step. I had to go back and review a few of his video lessons when I got stuck but ultimately I managed to find the solutions needed. Great introductory course.

This is my first class in Coursera. Dr. Chuck make it is easy to understand. Now I am confident to learn others lessons . Thanks Dr. Chuck. Much Appreciated.

The instructor talked too much and provided "bonus materials" that were useless for actual learning. Students are not allowed to post their programming code to the forum to receive help from a teaching assistant and peers. How can one help if there is no code to see the errors? There should be a better way to provide the feedback. Instead of "bonus" videos of teaching hours in Bangalore, it would be a lot more helpful to provide correct answers with explanations after the assignments were completed by students. The course would be better with more exercises.

I would like to sincerely thank the team behind the "Python for Everybody" specialization, especially the first course, "Getting Started with Python." This course was an incredible experience for me as a beginner in programming. The content was well-structured, beginner-friendly, and delivered in a very clear and engaging manner. Dr. Charles Severance (Dr. Chuck) did an outstanding job in explaining even the most basic concepts in a way that felt very intuitive. What I appreciated the most was the quality of the assignments and exercises—they truly helped reinforce the concepts and gave me practical hands-on experience. The quizzes and programming tasks were both challenging and rewarding. Overall, the course was extremely valuable and exceeded my expectations. This course isn’t just about learning Python syntax — it’s about learning how to think. The way the lectures and exercises are structured forces you to apply logic and structure from a machine’s perspective, not just follow along with code. It builds a real foundation in problem solving, flow control, and understanding why things work, not just how. Perfect for anyone serious about mastering the basics in a way that sticks. Felt like steel sharpening steel the whole way through. Highly recommended.

I’ll admit I expected it to be harder, but I’ve realized this is just the introductory phase. I’m really happy to have completed it and managed to do the exercises and my first Python programs. The instructor is amazing! I’m so glad I had Chuck as my teacher—his teaching style is wonderful, and he explains things in a way that just clicks. To fully solidify what I’ve learned, I know I’ll need to review and practice a few more times. The foundational concepts were delivered with both professionalism and a sense of ease. And lightness—that’s something I truly value in learning, and this course nailed it.
